Title: Publishing poems
Post by: purple monkey on March 21, 2018, 09:43:25 AM
For the folks that are poets, are there any good ways you have found to publish already copyrighted poetry.

I have a medical professional friend that wants to publish poems that have already been completed, but they are not in book form.

She would like to make some money on this.

Anyone with success stories?

TIA

I've been publishing my poetry for almost a decade, pretty consistently. I've made ...about a hundred dollars, and most of that was from two anthologies. Bluntly: your friend is not going to make money on this.

I'm guessing you're asking about self-publishing? SFWA has a really good guide to print-on-demand: http://www.sfwa.org/other-resources/for-authors/writer-beware/pod with a lot of links.

If they're interested in publishing in anthos and journals: look in Poets & Writers classifieds for submission opportunities: https://www.pw.org/classifieds A lot of smaller journals are using submittable.org to manage submissions, and they list open calls. Duotrope lets you search for markets and track your submissions.
