Prius with 233K miles

Would you consider buying it?  2005 with excellent service history according to the Carfax. They want $4000, which is in the middle of the range for purchase from a dealer according to KBB. I have been reading about used Prii lately, so I know the battery will probably die soon...?  I have never owned one. Any thoughts/advice?

I wouldn't buy anything with over 200k miles for $4000.

That's $1000 territory.  You don't know what will go wrong.

... actually, that's a lot less than $1000 territory for me, but "Cash for Clunkers" ruined the used car market. :/

I think I will avoid it.  There will be others. I'm also looking at Fits and Leafs.

My 2008 Prius has 270k miles. I paid 3.2k, but wouldn't go as high as 4k. I think a lot of Priuses from 2008 and above hitting 300-400k miles in a few years.

When I'm ready to get a new car I'll be lucky to get $1000 for my 2007 Prius with 265,000 miles on it.

We have also been in the market to buy a used Prius and had seen 2007-2008 models going for around $5000 with many less miles. $4000 for that many miles definitely sounds pretty bad. I would maybe be ok taking a chance on the higher miles but not for that price tag
