Price book app recommendation?
« on: July 21, 2013, 12:50:56 PM »
I'd love to find an iPhone app that will help me make a price book.

I have no illusions, I realize the data collection will be entirely manual.   But it seems like there should be an app that has typical grocery items listed which would allow me to enter the data in an easy way from multiple stores, do unit conversions, etc.

Does anyone know of anything out there?

Why hasn't anyone crowd-sourced this yet?

Too many SKUs and too many stores.   I can't imagine it would work well in most places.

Well there are all these price book apps... why can't they share the data?  Esoteric items may not be very up to date, but the staples would get updated regularly.  It works pretty well for gasbuddy.

I make my own spreadsheets for price books.  I store them in Dropbox and use the Dropbox app on my iPhone to view them.

I wouldn't assume that it hasn't been done. Check out www.hotcouponworld.com and see if they have it crowd sourced. If not, www.couponmom.com has a Target price book (I think), and www.livingrichwithcoupons.com has a price comparison tool (so does coupon mom and www.hip2save.com, I think.

If it actually hasn't been done, then my first guess is because of regional variations. The same store can have different prices from one town to the next.

I've been happy with this app...used it for almost 3 years. Yes, there is a bit of entry at the beginning but we do buy many of the same items repeatedly so after the initial entry there isn't quite so much updating necessary.
