Title: Power Drill Recommendation
Post by: Beach_Stache on December 01, 2016, 02:42:52 PM
Hi All,
I need some help selecting a power drill for around the house stuff.  I will admit that I am not handy, but every once in a while will need to fasten some new screws to the deck, hang some pictures, mount a tv to studs, etc.  This can be challenging w/a handheld screwdriver, so I'm looking for something inexpensive that I can use every few months for some projects.  I was thinking about a corded one rather than a cordless b/c I don't want to have to replace expensive lithium batteries or take care of them, just plug it into the wall and go.  I won't be taking it outside of the house or working on construction sites so figured corded would be cheaper and last a lot longer.  A friend of mine was recommending Dewalt and top level stuff but I just need the sweet and simple and inexpensive.  Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

I just, literally yesterday, bought a 18V DeWalt for $79.99 on Amazon and bought a bit set for $10 at Home Depot. HD has Ridgid set for $99.99 (drill/drive kit + impact driver). Ridgids come with a lifetime warranty. Also, they have Ryobi for similar price range but really I don't care about lifetime warranty. DeWalts are pretty good and for regular household stuff, I think, $79 is a pretty good price. Also, you dont need impact driver for regular household stuff. My DeWalt came with 2 batteries. That was the cheapest I could find.
