Hello!

One of my IRA accounts is with Wells Fargo.

The entire balance is invested in two Vanguard mutual funds.

Should I just ditch Wells Fargo and roll the money over to a Vanguard account?

It occurred to me that I might be giving WF money for nothing. The only thing they do for me is let me use their website to check my balance once a month. Obviously I can do that just as well on Vanguard's site.

Thanks!

I would. It may or may not actually benefit you depending on whether you pay Wells Fargo any fees, but they seem to be a little underhanded in their business dealings, so I wouldn't want to give them my business either way.

Got it, thanks! I guess I better find out if they're charging me anything. Honestly, I don't even know. I can't imagine they're not. They are Wells Fargo after all.

I wouldn't worry about it at this point, nothing to be done either way. Just call up Vanguard and start the transfer process.

Yes, get your money as far away from Wells Fargo as possible. They still engage in shady business practices.

At the moment, they owe me nearly $4000 for a mortgage escrow refund (home was sold, so they were supposed to refund me the escrow balance) that they removed from my account right before closing and now somehow "can't find." That is there words . . . they can't find it. Seriously? They've opened several "investigations" into their loss of my money and continue to just conclude they "can't find it" so they keep saying they don't know when or if I will ever get my money back. Just don't do business with Wells Fargo at all, if you can avoid it, because they are crooks, plain and simple. There are almost a million and a half complaints about them on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau site . . . disgraceful.
