Using Chase Points in NYC
« on: October 24, 2017, 02:02:41 PM »
I currently have a stash of 54,512 points to use for five nights in NYC in Jan. Can anyone recommend a good hotel on that budget?

This is for a 10th anniversary trip, and we're trying to pay for the whole thing with points. Don't mind spending a little cash if it means a significantly better hotel room, but prefer to stick to points. I get sucked into reading way too many hotel reviews and get discouraged by all of the people with "Tiny Details Exaggeration Syndrome". This paralyzes me from actually making a decision, so I'm outsourcing it to yall. If you have had personal experience or know a good hotel that I can get for my points, please let me know!

We'll already be flying transcon in first class both ways thanks to CC points, and using airport lounges thanks to AMEX platinum (free for military). We'll be eating from cheaper places most of the time, and splurging on a nice dinner for our actual anniversary. I'm very much a novice travel hacker, but trying to get as much value as possible from what we've got.

Check out http://awardmapper.com/ Usually the best hotel redemption option for Chase UR points is Hyatt or Marriott.

Unfortunately I don't think 10K points a night is going to get you a hotel in NYC.

Update - We booked a good looking room today at a hotel in Tribeca. Including taxes and fees, we only spent $55 out of pocket. Add to that the $22 we spent on taxes/fees for our first class flight, and we're only sitting at $77 for a week in Manhattan!
