Wow, that's cheap wine!  Here in UK it is difficult to find anything drinkable at less than the equivalent of $6.25 a bottle!

You can make your own hummus really easily with a food processor or even a blender.  Just pennies for several cups if using dried chickpeas.  Maybe more for canned but still cheap.

I would be hungry since there's little protein included.

Little protein OR fat.

OP, what exactly are you looking for in this post. "Analyze my receipt" is a bit vague.  Is this all you're eating for a week? Is this supplementary to what you have in your freezer already? Are you asking about your diet?

I say proceed with your plans to start making hummus, I'd be sure to price all the citrus fruits. Around here, at least, navel oranges cost more than other sorts.

Looks good to me. I prefer buying fruit from places other than TJ's - I get most from Sprouts, because of price.

Do you drive to the store? If so, you could save money by getting more food so you don't have to go as often, unless you can't eat the extra food before it goes bad.

If you bike or walk, might as well get more exercise by going more often.

Need more wine....

Is this a specialty trip, or a normal shopping trip.  It looks Ike my trips to whole foods, only stuff I buy from there is fresh foods and alcohol

Because of the way Trader Joes is registered, their produce is often a bit overpriced in my opinion. It's also why all of their produce is wrapped in plastic, they're not registered to sell anything loose (at least in my region, and a few other places I've lived- not sure if it's different where you are). I think it makes it harder to save money on produce when you can't take advantage of low poundage sales by stocking up a bit. Just my two cents. Oh and once you make your own hummus you'll never go back. I like to roast poblano peppers and blend them in, or add garlic and sundried tomatoes.

FIence!

I would really recommend a food processor instead of a blender for this specific application if you like your hummus at all thick. You'll save time and aggravation. In my experience, blenders tend to blend about the bottom two inches of hummus without sufficiently "churning" the top part of the mixture. So it's all stop and scrape, and it's really easy to get your scraper caught and ruin it too.
