2007 Prius
« on: March 06, 2016, 01:07:23 PM »
My wife and I currently own a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with 220,000 miles on it. It is starting to have mechanical problems and it's a pain to get my daughter in and out of the back seat. I have been looking for used Prius' in our area. I found one that is a 2007 with a recently replaced battery. The downsides are that it has 175,000 miles and a rebuilt title. I spoke with the owner and the said that when it was deemed totaled that it only had slight front end damage, but nothing significant. It is fully loaded with leather seats and navigation. He is asking $5,500.

Those of you which currently own or have owned a Prius. Do you think this a good deal? I'm a bit scared by the mileage and the rebuilt title but it is a Toyota. Please provide any feedback and if you feel this would be a good move.

I would stick with a clean title. Of course, the owner would down play the cause of the totaling.  The problem is a messed up frame. Unless he shows the image of the damaged car and you are sure there is no frame damage,  you should stay clear of a rebuilt title.

For rebuilt title and the mileage? I'd pass.

Or get a MUCH better deal than that. $5500 seems way too high for the risk with car that has rebuilt title.

Owner is biased and will downplay potential damage or risk.

You should be able to find a better kept Prius for only a slight bit more... I would pass on this!

Where are you located OP? I would shell out a bit more and get a much nicer Prius  (lower mileage, not totaled). Prii should be cheap right now w/ gas as low as it is.
