S&P 500 rate of return
« on: May 06, 2017, 07:01:20 AM »
When I look up the S&P 500 returns online I always get different numbers. For 2016 I see anything from 8% up to 11.96%. I want to check my investments relative to average returns.
Where and what would be the best way to compare how my investments fared vs. the market averages? Do I use inflation adjusted numbers?
Links would be great, thanks in advance.

Check out Personal Capital. They provide pretty good analytical data at a glance. There is a "You Index" vs "S&P 500" graph that shows the comparison you're wanting.
