Personal Capital - retirement planner tool
« on: July 06, 2022, 12:39:26 PM »
Anyone currently using this tool ?  I have put everything in this tool, including all of my accounts, banks accounts etc and have been working the retiremement planner with several scenarios that should take care of most all of it minus Taxes.

My biggest question is about Dividends as most everything im investing in inside of taxable accounts is in alot of high yield dividend stocks.  With the goal of having some major income from these 4-5 years from now.  Im curious how these are considered inside of Personal Capital.

My understanding is that their retirement planning tool uses historical total returns, including dividends, for your investment porfolio. I think their future estimates are conservative and based on simulations using past returns. I use that tool as one data point but also use other web sites such as portfolio charts, portfolio visualizer and the "rich broke or dead" calculator.
