I am considering starting a blog in order to make myself more accountable towards my self-sufficiency/homesteading/FI goals. I would also like to improve my photography and web skills. I just got married and we're expecting our first child in a about a month. It's been kind of a whirlwind, we're 29, we don't have any non-mortgage debt and the blog would be about me having the goal of leaving my 9-5 in 2-3 years and us moving to a homestead from the city while juggling new family responsibilities. I want to track it all, our "new life" sort of thing, and really "get serious" about these nebulous goals.
The question I have is, neither of us are big social media users, our introversion extends into what we publicly post. (very very little at the moment) But my family is very spread out and I know they would probably enjoy reading more about some of our day-to-day and projects and things, esp with the baby. The thing is, I'm not sure I'm ready to open up for commentary all our goals. There are also some of my family who wouldn't really "get it" if I was transparent about our finances and things, which would be the whole point. Its not just for photos and cute stories, or not the reason I would be doing it. At the same time, I don't want to blog to no one!
Sooo I'm torn. Has being mustachian and also publically mustachian worked out for the bloggers out there? Do you tell family/friends (ie post a link in Facebook?) or just keep it your corner of the internet and if they happen to find it so be it?
