Title: Pantry Apps?
Post by: Poosalosomous on November 09, 2015, 01:09:14 PM
DH is looking for an app to help keep inventory of pantry items.  He hasn't found any he likes and is about to resort to Excel (which neither of us is that good at).  Do any mustachians make use of any available apps out there?  What have you found that helps you?

Ohh, this is a good question. I've got nothing to add, but I'm eagerly awaiting other's answers.

A good shelving system does it for us. Shallow & wide, so you can see what you have, much like a grocery shelf, with oldest items rotated up front. If space is an issue, use some pullouts under the bed.

I use the List Omni app for items that need replacing on the next shopping trip.

While I haven't specifically used it to inventory pantry items (this post has me thinking about it), I believe the Out of Milk app has this functionality. I've used it primarily for grocery shopping but it does more than that. The grocery listing and pantry lists are designed to be used in tandem.

Good suggestions. Our "pantry" is currently contained in about 3 different rooms, so it's difficult sometimes to know at a glance what we have and how old it is. Also, DH likes making lists, so I'll check out the out of milk app. It looks like it's manual entry. Some of the other apps are barcode entry and didn't have the capability of manually entering an item, which was the limiting factor.
