Opening Two New Credit Cards
« on: March 16, 2018, 12:29:32 PM »
Would it be a bad idea to open two new credit cards around the same time? This is assuming my applications would be accepted. Mint says my score is 800 which seems high.

Are they with different companies?  Some companies don't allow you to grab two cards in a short period of time.

No, this is rarely a problem.

If the purpose is to get a CC sign up bonus (churning), then be careful. Check reddit.com/churning for tips. If not, then you should have little to worry about.

Please provide context.  What is the purpose for opening these two credit cards?

When churning, I've had as many as 12 cards active at any time (for the sign-up
bonuses) and kept my score > 800 FICO.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
