Career Advice
« on: August 22, 2016, 04:36:32 PM »
I just started a temp job as a Jr. Accountant. It is 6 more weeks (some potential to go perm). I am pursuing my MBA in project management and finance. I do NOT have a BS in any financial areas and took virtually zero finance courses in college

I am really enjoying what I am doing and am wondering how I would translate this into potentially earning more money ($16/hr right now).

I have a BS in History and an MS in Organizational Leadership. 3yrs as a Financial Analyst and most recently 1 horrid yr at an Insurance Company.

I would love to continue doing what I am doing, but also need to start making some more cash to get to FI (and pay off my student loans)

Feel free to ask questions.

Did I understand you correctly that you love your Acct job?  That's great!  Have you been honest with the people around you about how much you want to be in this career? They will give you the best advice on how to make extra/more money.

In order to be qualified to take the CPA exam, you have to have 150 college credit hours including certain accounting classes.  You might even be able to get your current company to pay for some of your accounting classes.  Your income potential goes up drastically with the credential.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
