Minimal Viable Blog - gettingfired.co.uk
« on: April 08, 2015, 01:44:21 PM »
Evening all,

It was suggested by a couple of other forum members that I start a blog to document my travels and FI journey. It's honestly not something I had or would have considered previously, but thinking about it, I decided to take the plunge and create my minimal viable product to test my writing skills. If it's a flop, it is no major issue but with the first 5 posts, it'll hopefully give you and indication of writing style and content.

I'd really appreciate your honest feedback. The blog is http://gettingfired.co.uk

Thanks

Major FP

Appreciate the feedback Tank_Esq, thank you. Really looking forward to Spain, though I have a busy year ahead of me before that with the baby and business.

Cheers

The end of your post should encourage interaction. For example, your 20 things list could ask "I would love to know fun facts about my readers. Please post a fun fact below. If you like this post and want more subscribe." People are more likely to come back if they invest in your blog by leaving their own mark on the site.

That's a really good tip, thank you. I'm coming up with a schedule that will give me more structure and planned posts. These were posts rattling around in my head.

Not sure if I detect a smidgen of sarcasm but I'll take this as a compliment, cheers.

So I'm also in the UK, and also aiming for a generally approximate figure of £0.25M as "covers expenses". In my case, I haven't factored in food and other recurring irregular costs, that's just for the relatively fixed expenses.

Your figures seem about right, especially since I currently have two houses to cover bills for. Just don't feel that you have to post every day; I had a monthly blog for a while, and even that started feeling too much like (more) work after a while ;)

None at all. I can't draw a stick figure. I had to just combine two images to make my blogs icon. Yours  is awesome.

Oh well in that case, thank you. I'm not a designer but I work with them. I don't think it has rubbed off to much

I had these posts in my head and thats why I posted them all at once. I don't intend to post daily, but I really just want to see if my blog has any merit. Still not sure.

Two weeks in and I'm really enjoying blogging. Thankfully it's not a chore so much but something I'm using to journal my own thoughts. For that reason I can't really see it being a busy blog, but something I can look back on over time and reminisce.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
