Title: Newb to investing
Post by: Hantuck on May 18, 2015, 06:06:29 AM
Hello,

About 3 weeks ago, I paid off our house and another large loan. The wife and I need to do some much needed house repairs but I think by the beginning of next year, I could save about $10k. I know very little about investing so I don't know where to start. I don't mind learning new things so if I need to read up and some things, I will. I just don't know where to start.

My ultimate goal, would be to retire in about 10 - 15 years (I'm 32), if that's even possible. I live in the US/Maine.

Thanks,

The Boglehead wiki (http://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Getting_started) and jlcollinsnh's stock series (http://jlcollinsnh.com/stock-series/) are common recommendations around here.

I also like The Shortest Book Ever on Saving for Retirement (http://www.amazon.com/Shortest-Book-Ever-Saving-Retirement/dp/0802446531/).

As you read and make a plan, feel free to post your questions here or in the investing subforum (http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/investor-alley/).
