new water softnener
« on: October 21, 2016, 03:55:55 PM »
So I am in need of a water softener!

I am deciding between a normal Whirlpool salt based water softener sold at Lowes or this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AQMGZIS/ref=s9_simh_hd_bw_buDKp_p60_d1_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=9WEMD1N5GVVQQ0WMSMWP&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1ba0bd2c-a38c-5bb3-b8d1-231a68ddc577&pf_rd_i=13397631

This last one it seems its not a full standard water softener but it says it protects against scale and such which is what we are mainly after. It does not need salt nor electricity!

Are any of you aware of this type of system? Is it reliable, any good, or should I just go to a normal standard softener?

Any feedback is welcome! Thankss!!

I just read the reviews.  This is primarily a solution where limestone is prevalent.  You will also need to buy a filter about every 6 months -

https://www.amazon.com/Aquasana-EQ-SS20R-SimplySoft-Salt-Free-Replacement/dp/B00EEGSNSM/ref=pd_bxgy_60_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00EEGSNSM&pd_rd_r=1X52AVGAGDS2KCSXPJBX&pd_rd_w=hPPpf&pd_rd_wg=0bz7q&psc=1&refRID=1X52AVGAGDS2KCSXPJBX.

they are $99 for 3

I would go with a typical soften

edit - I goofed on the price of the filter
