Nest Thermostat Trouble

Does anyone have any trouble with their nest thermostat?

First problem: The install was pretty dumb, first it did not work with my heat pump, so I installed it on my furnace (I have 2 systems) it only marginally worked on that because I did not have a "C" wire. So after I went to the trouble of installing that, it works "correctly"

Enter problem 2..... My wife is kind of a freeze baby, and she was complaining a lot about the temp because it was set at 68 but did not seam to be running often, and it did feel cold even to me. I figured our bodies were just adjusting to the colder weather. Well I pulled out my temp gun, turns out the nest itself generates heat. So the nest itself is reading 68, and the interior wall it is mounted on was reading 64. A 4 degree difference, which is significant.

I mean shit people, its got 1 job, to you know tell the temp accurately so it can tell the furnace what to do. Yes I realize I can set the nest at 72 to get it to be actually 68 in the room. But WTF google, how hard is this? Is anyone else having these issues or is it just me? Do most thermostats with power in generate that kind of heat and throw off their readings?

Advice or fellow bitching would be welcome!

No advice or bitching, just wanted to throw out there that I have 2 Nest Thermostats that were used in my previous and current home (took them with me when I moved), installed them myself every time, and have never had any of the issues you are describing.

We have quite a few Nest thermostats and have never had a problem. I have multiple proper temp sensors (not just temp guns).  Maybe check your wiring or return the unit if it is defective.

Our nests work fine. We also have a few of these strategically placed in key rooms. The HVAC then can drive off of the temperature in specific areas of the home.
