Need to tie a couple rooms together
« on: June 06, 2017, 09:25:24 AM »
Need to buy some area rugs for our new apartment.  Willing to spend extra for a couple of high quality rugs if they will last for years or even a BFL situation.  I think our preferred material would be wool.  We have one very nice (and very large) rug that was purchased when we were in India for around $1200.  I know it sounds expensive, but again it's likely a rug we will have for many years, possibly even for life (as long as Wu does not micturate on it).

Since we know someone in India we may just go that route again if we go to visit, but we are also open to purchasing one in the US.  Anyone have recommendations?

We are in the NYC area if anyone has any area specific recommendations.

If you're open to online shopping for rugs try:

www.rugsusa.com

They have a range of rugs from inexpensive polyester to nice wool ones. They have free shipping which is great.  Of course, expensive if you want to return a rug.

Edited to add:  they have frequent sales so get on their mailing list.

I have gotten almost all my rugs from overstock, look for wool rugs. They have nice brands like safavieh at a discount.
I did get one that shed a lot, but rest were good quality for the price.

Same here! I shop overstock and amazon all the time for rugs. Side note: I bought a 5X7 rug last year off Amazon for $70 w/ free shipping. Same rug was over $300 on Overstock. I just sold the rug on Facebook Marketplace for $80. Made $10 and got to have a nice rug for a year! I started thinking of flipping rugs on the side now LOL

Rugs seem pretty anti-mustachian to me, but that's just like my opinion, man.

You're out of your element.
