I'm so lost in this conversation...y'all have so many states, they're all just a puzzle piece blur to me for the most part
I'm going to take a stab at this, based on what I know about Canada from the three Canadians I have been close with and my rudimentary knowledge of Canadian TV.
When we say Minnesota, think Diet Ontario. For Kansas, imagine a miniature Alberta with no mountains. Iowa is half Kansas, half Minnesota. Missouri is like half Kansas, half Arkansas-- I am thinking like New Brunswick except our weird Acadian French dialect went extinct?
I can't explain Arkansas. You could marry your cousin there until like 15 years ago.
The thing is, although I live in Ontario, I'm from Quebec, and I've only ever lived within a few km of the border of Quebec. I don't really *know* Ontario that well.
I know Toronto, which I fucking despise, but I've never actually been west of southwestern Ontario, so I have no clue what Ontario is like in the region north or Minnesota.
I don't know western Canada at all, never met her. But the east and I are VERY familiar. Lol.
For me, I pretty much like to be as easy as human possible and then every km I travel west comes with increasing regret. Even Ontario, I am willing to live here, but I at least have to be able to reach out my fingertips and touch QC where I am much more comfortable with the culture. I also live in a French area, so that helps.
I'm kind of allergic to Ontario culture as far as I understand it. The more time I spend in Atlantic Canada, the more severe that allergy becomes.
