Public Mustachianism - potential downsides?

In 1.5 months i'm going to make a grab for freedom, move and study for a bachelor's in CS.
Reading MMM has convinced me it's entirely possible to self fund this endeavor and even come out ahead financially. I'm planning to work part-time the entire time, full time as long as the lecture free periods will allow, and look to get into a qualified position ASAP  to establish some connections for post-graduation.

One of the best ways to stay on target is to go public. I had the idea to blog about the living and financial situation i'm going to put myself in, then realized i'd have to disclose my identity due to german law.
First idea for a fix was to go spending-only for the financials, making it about 'price of a degree', without disclosing my work/income.

Can't see anything wrong with that from my personal POV, but was wondering if any of you have experience going public in this way and what kind of reactions you got - especially looking for employment later with your details out there in the open.
For example, did the topic of your unusually low spending ever come up when it was time to talk pay?

I'm just curious; what are the specifics of this? Would you mind elaborating? You can't blog anonymously? That sounds bizarre.

Even if you cannot think of a specific downside I'd be very hesitant to disclose that much private information if that's the case. But in a bit paranoid.

How detailed are you planning on being? Would it be safer and easier to just have one "commitment buddy"? I'm guessing no one would actually *care* about the blog; statistically, probably no one will even *read* the blog, but if it's attached to your real name and it has things like the details of your monthly payments... that's the kind of information that banks use to confirm your identity (at least in the US). Someone with all that information would have an easier time opening accounts in your name/stealing your identity. What's the actual risk level? Who knows.

If you really do want to have the blog, do you have to comply with German law if you use a non-German domain and ISP?

Requirements for simple publishing information are a real name and address (or a business)

It's a bit of a gray zone related to publishing to the general public, even as non-professional writing for free.
It has fueled many lawyers zeal to send out nice little letters with reminders about your legal obligations along with outrageous fees because it's an aweful lot of work to print one more standard letter.

i'm not about to disclose my bank account or publish additional personal information that might be used for identity theft. Tracking money spent and setting an example of active student life without accumulating debt would not require anything of that kind.

OP, what have you to offer that's New/Fresh/Different? Do you really think you'll have time to create and maintain worthwhile content while you're trying to go to school and work? What is it you're actually trying to achieve? So confused...
