Hello All.

Thus far, my investments are up about 15% since November. I'm trying to decide whether to shift some investments, sell some investments to lock in gains or to let them ride.

My strategy thus far has been fairly aggressive. I am 35 my wife is 33 and I dont plan to retire for about 20 years.

Currently my portfolio is 100% stocks.
My 401k is 70% FXSIX Fidelity 500 index
and the remaining 30% in a mixture of small mid and large cap growth funds.
DODGX
FSEVX
FXSIX
RGAGX

My roth IRAs are sector specific low fee mutal funds and ETFs such as
BULIX (Utilities)
FBSOX (IT)
FSPHX (Phama)
FSEIX
FSTMX

For my brokerage account I have been even more aggressive  I have my money Split between
about 50% ETFs and Index funds
FCNTX
FNCL (Financial sector)
FSTVX
and about 50% in individual Stocks, currently
CAT
ALK
BP
KR
RDSA
SBUX
TJX

With Trumps push to make america great again, it concerns me that my two oil stocks are both foreign, Though they offer great dividends, I am concerned he will rig laws to the advantage of american based companies.

Some I am watching closely are
PWR (Mostlikely to build the keystone)
AA
BA &
GLW

Thoughts?

If your portfolio is dependent on who is President, then I'd argue that you have not set it up very well.  Pick an Asset Allocation that you're comfortable with.  Write and Investment Policy Statement.  And then invest regularly, ignoring the news of the day.

i just bought 300 shares of this

https://www.startengine.com/startup/golfboard

i think with all the tax cuts for the rich this stock will go thru the roof.  All of us high incomers will have more income to spend on golf course toys.

but on a serious note.  i dont change crap about my real investments based on the prez.

Holy complicated batman!

I have ~300k in VTSAX at the moment, and plan on doing nothing. If the market tanks for a few years, I will continue to buy in, if the market explodes for a few years... I will continue to buy in. Planning on being FI by 30 with 1-1.5Mil will RE sometime shortly after that.

If you're worrying about individual stocks in your portfolio, you aren't diversified enough. End of story.

Get rid of all individual stocks.  They're not worth the risk.

Okay.  All of my investments.  Any money that I don't need to eat, drink, pay taxes, etc.

I know that is the MMM way, but I've done pretty well with them. Better than the market. and I also get a measure of entertainment out of it, You could call it a hobby of mine. Overall, about 80% of my money is indexes and ETFs. I enjoy palying with the other 20%.
