##### math q - how much \$ per km?
« on: January 05, 2014, 11:55:57 AM »

My car does 28 MPG City / 35 Hwy.

I paid 1.379 per litre last fill up.

A website posts this location's current price as "126.8", but I don't know what that means.

My ultimate goal is to have awareness/consciousness about how much each trip (stores, support meetings, etc) costs me so I can look at adjusting my lifestyle. I can Google Map the distance, but am stuck around the per km fuel cost.

Assuming that MPG is miles per *imperial* gallon:

28 MPG * 1.61 km per mile / 4.55 liters per imperial gallon = 9.9 km per liter or about 10.1 liters per 100 km. So, for every 10 km of city driving, you use about 1 liter of gas.

That makes it simple for you: at \$1.268 per liter, it's about \$0.12 per km in the city.

(Edited to fix math)

Your math is flawed, 1l per km would be insane!
10l/100km is 0.1l/km so it's more like 0.12\$ per km
I didn't check the rest oft math but looks about right

Seeing how you did the math helped me find some related resources (in case others have this question, too):
