Hello fellow Mustachians,
I'm looking to change my work life, from full time work as a senior database developer/architect, to some kind of mix of part-time and/or contract work.
I'd been working part-time, 3 days a week for about 8 years, since my kids were born, and it was great. Recently because of special circumstances, I accepted a full-time job. Now I'd like to get back to part-time work, but potentially more independent, project based work.
My previous work experience was always through contract firms or directly with companies. There were VERY little part-time workers - usually I was the only one I knew of. Also, all the work was either hourly or salaried, nothing was project based.
I've checked out websites like Elance, but it looks very discouraging - it doesn't seem like high-caliber companies post work there.
I'm planning on contacting people I've worked with before to ask them for work. But other than that - what else could I be doing?
