I currently pay my gas and water bills with my credit cards via Paymentus at no charge to me -- I guess the utility companies eat the service fee here where I live. I was wondering if anyone here has a U.S. Bank Cash Plus (or Elan Max Cash Preferred) credit card to get back 5% on utils. Do you use Paymentus to pay your utility bills? Just wondering if it codes correctly as utility payment to get the 5% cash back. Considering getting the U.S. Bank Cash Plus or Elan Max Cash Preferred card, but only if it codes right for utility payments. The only reason I'd get it (and keep it) is to get that 5% cash back on utils.

Is Paymentus a way of getting around this and reaping the credit card rewards? My electric company allows credit card payment. Using the Cash+ card I'm getting 5% back. Wish I could do on all utilities...
I have the US Bank Cash + card and I pay my utilities directly with it. I just pay them directly though, not sure what paymentus adds to the transaction. The 5% cash back is nice.
5%: It looks like television streaming services qualify (Disney+, Netflix), as do cell phone, home utilities (not sure about landlines), gyms, fast food, sporting goods stores, department stores, movie theaters, and ground transportation.
