I’m a simple person; I’ve always been satisfied with my income.  Though I haven’t made <$40k since I graduated college.

Next year will be $0 income if all goes well, which will probably be pretty satisfying too, since it’s chosen, and not due to unwanted circumstances.

I am pretty satisfied tbh. More would be better because more means I get to FIRE sooner but I am not deeply unsatisfied with it. In fact, I have been applying for a position that would see me lose $10k/yr in salary but would allow me to pivot from accounting. I am SO EXCITED. Granted, I am also qualified for another job at the same place that would see me increase salary by 20k but oh well. It is nice having a 60% savings rate which allows me to even not work if I needed to and still make ends meet with just my SOs (or the other way around too).

Moral of the story: I am trying not to let money dictate my decisions or my judgement of value.

DH and I both make 6 figures, I work very part time.
We would be more than happy with just one of our incomes.

I'm hoping to decrease my income significantly within 5 years.  Fingers crossed!

We fall in the $160k+ bracket (barely). I am both satisfied and not satisfied. I think our household income is a ton of money and plenty for executing our FIRE plans. But on the other hand we are vastly underpaid for our positions/work.

I’m overall pretty satisfied. I’ll make a bit over $320k this year on my single income. We live in a LCOL area. I’m 31 with an associates degree so my income is good. That being said I’ve taken many risks, sacrifices, and probably averaged around 60 hrs/wk the last decade.

If I lived in a part of the country I enjoyed more, and worked less hours, I’d be REALLY satisfied.

I'm single, and in the 40k-80k range. I would like to be making more, if only so I can reach FIRE sooner.

My expenses are low, and I am at the beginning of my new career, so things are looking good. Nothing to complain about, just gotta dig my heels in and work hard.

I put $40k-$80k, but we're already retired.    Technically, if I included the 4% rule on our stock/bond portfolio it would be in the next category, but I don't intend to spend much of that (if any).

Reading through part 1, I found the back and forth regarding how some are satisfied with lower incomes than others interesting. I'm curious if folks have forgotten about hedonic adaptation or if its just a matter of people enjoying being incredulous on the internet?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
