Mint Questions
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:18:36 AM »
Hello everyone, I set up mint roughly a year ago, and the I kinda quit using it... But recently our household spending has gotten out of control again...
We are expecting our first child in July and that has caused our budget to go a little out of whack... so anyways I'm updating all my mint information.

My question is,

My mint account has my credit card on it, so all of my purchases from my credit card are being posted to mint.  We use our credit card for all of our purchases because of the points (never have carried a balance / Never paid a cent of interest)

So lets say I make 1000 dollars of purchases on my credit card in a week, I then go onto my online banking and I transfer 1000 dollars from my bank account onto my credit card.
Mint is kinda double charging me... Its counting my 1000 dollars twice, the actual purchases and then the transfer...  So its Skews my numbers big time...
Anyone else have this problem?  How do you work around it?

Jack

Transfers should cancel each other out: it should post as a debit from your bank account and an (equal) credit to your credit card account. If you don't have your bank account hooked to Mint then it'll only find one side of it...

The "transfer" category should also be excluded from budgets and trends (but I can't remember if that's the default, or if I changed a setting to make it do that).

Thanks Jack, I found similar information on a reddit forum.

For whatever reason it was not counting it as a transfer, so I have updated everything to show as a transfer
