How to handle Obamacare if travelling or living in multiple states
« on: September 11, 2017, 12:07:14 PM »
Wondering if anyone has experience with this and can let me know how this works or how you manage it.  What if you purchase your insurance on the ACA exchange but:
  • You live half the year in one state and half in another (snowbirds for example)
  • You want to take 6 months and travel around the country
  • You want to take 6 months and travel around the world

Thanks!

The answer for these is both the same luckily!

You should purchase your plan for your permanent address - where you vote, pay taxes, etc. Use the 51% rule if necessary.

If you move it is a qualifying life event and you need to change your insurance.
