Mid-Year FIRE: Please Help With Maximizing FSA

I bet this post yields someone sharing a link to a former threat that I failed to find. If so, I apologize for my poor search skills! Either way, here goes.

My wife has been on Coast Fire as a teacher, but she wants out with Covid teaching no longer scratching the teaching itch. So she is going to FIRE in June 2021. (I FIREd in 2019.)

We want to make the most of her FSA, but we understand that rules vary on what happens when you spend more than you fund because you leave before the end of the year.

What questions should we ask to make sure that we understand how her employer's plan works to decide how to proceed?
