I went thru PenFed.org, which also says "save up to $20".

This is what I paid (no idea what the discount was):

1   TURBOTAX ONLINE PREMIER TY2016 PREP    $39.99
1   TURBOTAX ONLINE STATE NJ TY2016 PREP    $36.99

Rumor has it (see https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=203884) that with "enough" at Fidelity it can be free.  Don't recall the definition of "enough" but it may be in that thread.

Use ebates too. I think TT offers another 7.5% off (when I checked it over the weekend).

My credit union offers free TurboTax for simple returns (not me since I rent out a portion of my house) and about 50% off for everything else. It's a pretty good deal (but also a very good credit union; I belong to three credit unions and only one offers this).

Anyway -- may be worth it to check out what your local credit unions offer.

I 'earned' 1,000 Southwest Bonus Points for using TurboTax through their Rapid Rewards website. Not sure what 1,000 points gets me in flight discounts/credit, but it was an option. I paid a little over $70 when it was all said and done. Wondering if I should have done H&R Block instead.

We used TaxAct. I tried Credit Karma but there were definitely a lot of bugs in their free software.
