Leg Extension Attachment for Weight Bench?
« on: December 21, 2021, 04:10:55 PM »
I have a weight bench at home. I'd like to get an attachment for it that would allow me to do leg extensions and leg curls. Is there a sturdy "universal" attachment that would fit my bench and function in that way?

What brand is your bench? There's a few random manufacturers who have various add-ons for their products but if your bench wasn't designed for it there's not a lot out there as an add-on. If you have access to dumbbells you could look into something like MonkeyFeet but reviews on that seem to be mixed. I could talk home gym equipment all day!

I took another look at the item and I think it's more appropriate to call it a platform than a bench. It's made by a company called Extreme. The model is "Stamina" and the model number looks to be 90-0012, though the numbers are faded and I can't find the item on the web.

I could be wrong but it’s unlikely to find a sturdy attachment for the bench. Usually those type of setups are usually integrated from the start.

Are you set on those exercises specifically for rehab or something? If not I can give some alternative recommendations.

Yeah, I'm with darkskys; there's not really anything inexpensive or compact that is going to give you what you're looking for.

Plenty of alternative exercises though:

Quads - squat, split squat, lunges, weighted step-ups
Hamstrings - bulgarian split squat, romanian deadlift, good mornings, kettlebell swings, back extension

Yes, I'm in long-term (permanent) joint rehabilitation.

Yeah, I would definitely go to your PT for advice and home programming then. For your purposes you could possibly do something with just a few bands.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
