A15 Led Bulbs
« on: February 15, 2016, 02:32:25 PM »
Hey,

I'm looking to replace the small A15 (E26) 40w bulbs in our house with LED equivalents. I need 17 of them >_<

The cheapest I've found (Amazon) are 4 for $15.99...

I'm open to the other shapes but I want small ones so they dont protrude from the shade.

Any pointers where I could find cheaper bulbs?

I just randomly looked at home depot web site. They seem to have some in the $5-6 range.

Edit
Argh. I now see you said amazon price was for 4. My mistake.

FWIW - we shopped around and ended up finding a reasonable (not great) deal at Costco as we wanted to convert our house to the 40-60w LED's - WOW what a mistake that was.  I am sure it is all about the "K" rating but that light was so unusable and white we returned them all.  I likely need to do more research on more of a "warm" led rating.

I wish there was bigger packs around, but doesn't seem to be much selection :/

Yeah, I've been there.  The ones I linked are 3000k which I guess is about "normal" giving a warmish light without being too red.

Typically 2700k is warm.. 5000k is white.. like OMG too much white

I was seeing a deal at Home Depot for about $2:50 a bulb a couple of weeks back on packs of 4 I believe.

All of our local Ace Hardware stores seem to be running specials on their Feit brand LED bulbs. Might be worth looking into if you have any stores near you.

I'm slowly replacing mine and just bought a Feit brand bulb for one room and a Cree brand bulb for another.  The Feit takes a second to turn on after you flip the switch, and it seems to flicker at times.  The Cree is excellent.  The Cree bulbs are more expensive, but it's basically a one-time cost because they last so long.  Something to think about.

Anyone have any good experiences with the cheaper brands?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
