Is this penny worth anything?
« on: October 19, 2017, 11:47:57 PM »
A long time ago when I was a kid one of my parent's friends gave me a penny which he seemed to think was a valuable mis-strike. I believe he thought that revolved around the nine, which may look like a double strike. Anyone care to guess if this is worth money or time? (Hope this image sharing site works)

It's worth at least a cent.

Call a coin dealer?

A quick search on ebay shows double struck ones that seem as slight as yours going for a couple of bucks.  Others with real bad doubling on letters as well as the numbers with the strikes quite, relatively speaking, far apart are being sold with asking prices of $1400 to $2400. Didn't check the prices of actual sales but it makes me think if you get a buck out of it, that'd be doing well.

Thanks! I am hanging on to it but it seems it is not enough to bother about. You must use better eBay search terms than I do.
