Is Swagbucks worht it?
« on: February 06, 2022, 01:37:51 PM »
I have some spare time on hand.. Maybe an hour a day on average.  How much could I earn with swagbucks in a month, 30 hours per month?  Do they 1099 you?

I used to use Swagbucks, but my knowledge is not up to date as I stopped nearly a year ago.  They do not 1099 or anything, you are responsible for tracking your own earnings (or not, I'm sure most don't).

At my best, I was earning about 1 $25 gift card per month, however I was putting much more than 1hr a day into it.  As a frugal person, I was almost always screened out of surveys, and many surveys screened out at the end instead of the beginning, so there's a lot of wasted time.  Most of my earnings were from watching videos.

Whether it's worth it or not depends on what you value.  I stopped because it was using a lot of our internet bandwidth, and taking a lot of my time.  I find Prolific to have a better payout/time invested, so I use that instead now.

I tried a bank bonus through there once and it didn't track right. Some of their shopping portal offers have worked OK for me and I've gotten free meal kits a couple times. I don't check the site unless doc posts something good.

I found the receipt scan difficult to use and got really frustrated with it, so I don't count on those any more.  I hate surveys as a general rule so never tried theirs.

I was gettign screened out of the surveys left and right.. They sure nosy too.  They collect so much data on you. I think I have like less than 50 SB for 1/2 hour of my time.. 50 cents for all that info they have onme.. I think they got the better deal :)  I'm not  gonna it anymore.

Not worth it for reasons mentioned above (e.g., screened out late). There’s  also a bit of bait & switch where you click on what is supposed to be a 10min survey for X points, but you go to site that then  kicks you into another (longer) survey for ??? points.

I do still do Prolific, which unfortunately pays out via PayPal now in the US

Yes, they issue a 1099...but only if certain activities reach the $600 threshold. https://help.swagbucks.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049700471-Taxes

I stopped using Swagbucks a couple years ago for the reasons others stated. Prolific definitely has the best payout for your time that I've found, but there aren't a ton of surveys available so I think you'll probably run out before an hour most days.

I tried to sign up for prolific, but they said they weren't accepting new people because there was so much interest.  The offered me to join a waiting list but I passed on it.

It seems like a total waste of time to me.
I have an account just because some of my bank bonus churning pays out in SB.
The first bonus was $120 for Varo Bank, it showed up fine.
The second was for Chime Bank, it showed up pending. I had to submit a help ticket with a screenshot showing the original offer, my email address, etc to try to get the $150 bonus. Three months later.
Also, they pay out in gift cards which I'm not a fan of since I put all my spending on cc.

I've only bank churned once with Chase, I think I got like $300.   I still have the account and transfer over $500 to avoid montly fee. then immiedately use that $500 to pay off chase credit cards.

If you churn bank accounts doesnt this generally require you to change your direct deposit every few months?   I get a direct deposit form SSA and they are hard to get ahold of and often make mistakes.. Don't think it's worth it to change direct desposit with SSA.

I don't get any "real" dd's, I'm self employed for one thing.
I just research which bank pushes code as a dd for the bank in question that's offering the bonus.
Mostly it works, sometimes I'll double up with pushes from two different banks to make sure.
Never call the bank and ask, just keep trying.
