downsizing car ... ending lease...

i have a smart car... leasing for 162/mo ....
my plan was to find a used car and end the lease early ...
what's the process of ending lease early?
i've made 2300 in payments and have another 2600 left on the lease...

bought a 1986 crx for 1000....
drives and works great...
but i went ahead and had the brakes/valve cover/coolant/timing belt and hoses replaced... $1150...
having the windshield replaced for 193 today...
so I have $2343 into the car ...
interior is hideous and paint is faded and A/C doesn't work... not a problem though...

You likely need to find someone to take over the lease.  I'd start with craigslist and maybe FB.  That's such a low lease rate, someone will likely want it.

Cheapest I to find someone to take it over.

Alternatively contact the lease company and they will lest you know the cost to end the lease early.
