irrational or no
« on: July 10, 2020, 09:24:35 PM »
Got an email from CU .99% on any HELOC advances until next June. I really want to zero out the 59K my 3.25% mortgage and then use the year to pay that off--it would take a bit to get back to zero but the benefit of having this thing paid off once and for all is tempting. It would also allow me to increase HELOC limit to 80% of the full value. Problem is that mortgage is fine where it is at a nice fixed $65/week auto withdrawal and it seems counterintuitive to spend the year paying off a 1% loan instead of taking some of the 1% heloc and throwing it into index funds. This is of course not black and white and I could do a partial pmt on the mortgage but that doesn't excite me nearly as much--haha incrementalism bleh. Torn, any ideas?
