Title: iPod losing its bookmarks

Does anyone know why an IPod would suddenly lose all its bookmarks?

The IPod is rather old and I did have quite a few bookmarks on there.  (What? YouTube music videos are awesome!). But today when I went to charge it up, after I took it off the charger, all the bookmarks were gone.  Why oh why?!??!

And is there a way to get them back?
