AirBnB your home while on vacation?
« on: April 14, 2015, 04:36:50 AM »
So I was churning my gears at work the other day thinking about our 1 week vacation next month. I will need some one to come over and do a couple things and ask the neighbors to keep a eye out for a suspicious activity since no one would be residing there for a week.

Why not rent our house out while our family is on vacation. Its a $220k home and that is in tip top shape. Were in a great location. Sure we could get a decent amount for it on airbnb. I doubt that I could get a renter for the specific week were leaving but for future trips that have a flexible date could work.

Modifications needed would include putting a door handle that has a lock on the pantry. Move personal items like clothes into temporary boxs(Bonus:this is the perfect time to purge). Not really sure what else would be needed to make this work.

Has any one did this before? Seems like the perfect way to create some extra income.

Another benefit is you can rent your home up to 14 days tax free.

This is quite common I'd say, and I'd go for it. You can set the minimum stay to 6-7 nights on your listing.

14 days is all we would need to do it, two 1 week vacations. Our dates would not matter when we vacation so I would think being flexible like that all you would need to do is find a renter, then your vacation dates would be when they want to stay at your place.

What are the liabilitys with this, say some one fell down the steps and got hurt? Or if the renters destroy your place with a party, would be remidied in civil courts?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
