Inexpensive shoes?
« on: January 18, 2016, 10:02:12 AM »
I'm looking to buy pair of new Nikes and those usually go for $100+. Anyone have any tips on where to find them for a decent price? I've tried other brands but I'm a bit flat footed and they end up not fitting my foot well, which hurts after some time.

Thanks!!

Zappos has a secondary website called 6pm that is basically their "outlet mall". http://www.6pm.com/

Also, outlet malls.

Try places like Ross and TJ Maxx.

Good luck!

Basically echoing bracken_joy.

6pm (even Zappos itself sometimes)
Sometimes Amazon will have a discount on them

I always see Nikes at TJ Maxx. You could also try Nordstrom Rack for a bigger selection.

DSW has cheaper Nikes or discounted Nikes (depends)

Nike outlet too.

I used to buy the Nike Free ($100+) but then I found the Nike Flex which is like 99% as good but only $80. But this would be a good time to buy, they are likely moving out the 2015 models to make way for 2016.

Thanks folks. The only issue I have with going to outlets in person is that they don't always carry my size (12.5-13). However I did find a good pair of Sperrys in my size at Nordstrom Rack for a good number.

Also Marshalls which is pretty much another face of TJMaxx.  I get most of my shoes there now.  You just have to go in and see what they have every week or so to find what you're looking for.  They have Nikes quite often and also have larger sizes just as often.

Ordered from 6pm! 3 pairs of Nikes for $140. I'm happy with this.

DSW is also great. My BF wears a size 14-15 and he has always had a lot of choice when he goes there. Although I'm not sure if you're a man or a woman, either way, DSW has a hell of a big selection for both, and they tend to be marked down significantly.

Once you figure out what style of Nike shoes you like, write down the style name and size, and periodically do internet shopping searches for them.  If you find them for cheap, buy a few pairs.

One good way to save is to buy the recently discontinued models when the new one comes out - usually it's only a cosmetic change, the structure and fit of the shoe stays very similar.  I buy Mizuno wave riders for running, so if that shoe is currently on version 15, I will just do google shopping searches for "mizuno wave rider 14" and "mizuno wave rider 13".  Just figure out how nike numbers their shoe models, and then you could do the same type of search with whatever style of Nike shoe fits you well.

The shipping from 6 pm was fast and free. I've gotten 2 pairs of shoes so far, both of which are great. I ordered 3 pair with the intention of sending one back, but I might end up just holding onto all 3! Nike shoes just fits my feet so well (I'm a little flat footed) unlike any other brand.

Woo! So glad it worked out for you. Funny that nikes fit you well as flat footed- they seem to fit my very high arches very well! I wonder if we gravitate toward different models though?

I'm not sure! Well the other thing is for Nike is that there's always enough room for me to insert a new sole that's made for flat footed folks.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
