Individual Health Insurance
« on: June 12, 2014, 11:02:38 PM »
Just planning for the future and I checked out how much it would cost for us to buy HDHP right now for our family of 4.  We are currently covered by our employer, but online with a $2k individual/$4k family deductibles; Maximum annual OOP $6350 individual/$12,700 family, with $50 co-pay after deductible is $596.71/month!

Okay is it location based?  How is MMM getting it to $240/month.  We are not unhealthy but what are others doing?

Can you get subsidies (assuming you are in the USA)? That's probably how MMM and other's here have low rates if they buy their own private health insurance. But that is only for monthly premiums and OOP max can still be $6350/person and $12K for family.

We're shopping HDHP plans now and are looking at one with same terms you describe. Our premium? Over $1100/mo and that's the BEST pricing we have found so far. Count your blessings?
