Title: Individual health insurance options
Post by: boyerbt on June 13, 2019, 06:07:40 PM
What options does everyone recommend when researching personal health insurance? I’m going to be taking a new job that doesn’t offer health insurance. The pay is $120k plus commission and I need to find out an option for my wife and I before beginning the new job.

You are going to want to look at your ACA plans and figure out which of your doctor's accepts which plan.

Your only option is ACA plans.   I'm in Indiana and there are only two companies I could choose from, probably similar in Ohio.
Don't try to do it online or you will get bombarded by unsolicited emails and phone calls, hook up with a local insurance navigator to help you price and select the best plan.

Brace yourself, I'm at similar income level and cost is $1,285 per month for myself and spouse.
Have to be below approx. $67,000 to start getting discounts.

If you can make your job be 1099, it's tax deductible.

which navigator did you use?  likely in this boat for 2020 (also in IND), so later this year will need to make some decisions
