IB vs CMC
« on: October 09, 2016, 10:28:14 PM »
Hi Everyone,
Read online but couldn't find a recent review for these brokers (in Australia).
I like IB as you can access international shares and specifically US shares
CMC seems to be simpler to use.

My goals:
- Diversify with US shares
- Still get franking here in OZ, mainly through LICs

Unfortunately, IB doesn't do Forex anymore for Australians! I was looking at this awesome tool as I frequently travel to EUR. How perfect could that be! You invest with your AUD and keep a multi currency account and then, as you travel under FIRE, you withdraw in USD, EUR, etc etc...

Which broker are you using? I'm pretty much set up on one of these two, a lot cheaper option vs the rest
Any caveat or bad experience, especially with international trade?

Cheers!

i use cmc markets which is a good broker, which offers good execution, the depot is simple view my country and the support is fast to answer. but I prefer ib and oanda is the best forex broker for beginner traders like me I find links for more choices from other broker.

i m now fully with ib
sure you can t transact and keep every currency as you can in the us but i reckon this is a matter of time before we can
this is the cheapest and best broker

for aussie tho i would buy lics or similar thru cmc or an aussie broker as you loose the possibility to transact with dividend reinvestment plans otherwise
