Dad keeps losing his wallet
« on: August 26, 2017, 07:18:04 PM »
I'm looking for something thin that my dad can put in his wallet. The thing is that I would rather he have something that goes on his key chain rather than an app on his phone. I think he does have bluetooth on his phone but he doesn't know how to use apps. He just started texting a few months ago. So any ideas for something dead simple? I also have to buy him another wallet (ugh) fortunately the wallets I get him are only $20.

Please take a step back and make sure that your father does not suffer from dementia.
Close relatives often overlook early warning signs.

Sorry, I am in a dark mood.

I think that Feivel2000 has a good point.

My grandmother has dementia and still lives on her own at home (it's a contentious issue, but for the time being, it is what it is), and my mother has tried all sorts of things like getting her a simple cellphone with her kids' numbers on speed dial if she gets lost, a home monitoring system where she wears a bracelet that will activate a response if she falls or pushes a button... but the sad thing is that with dementia you seem to lose the ability to learn new things. As my grandma's dementia advances, she is forgetting how to use things in the inverse order that she learned them (Tv remote, then microwave, followed by clothes drier, followed by washing machine, and now oven). This just to say that maybe tech isn't your answer.

Have you considered a chain to connect the wallet to his belt?

A chain is a great idea! My dad doesn't carry around his cellphone so something like tile wouldn't work. My dad doesn't suffer from dementia. He suffers from poor life decisions.
