Apartments and what is too much?
« on: December 01, 2013, 08:19:17 AM »

Is $970 a month too much to pay for the next six months considering my salary? What does everyone recommend I do?

Based on the description, I'm going to guess you mean Manchester.  Looking at CraigsList, it looks like you can find some subleases of a single room in someone else's apartment for 550-600.  This is what I would do-- you can grin and bear just about any kind of roommate for 6 months.

Yeah, a good goal is to get rent down to 25% of your income or less. It frees up a lot of room for everything else, especially paying off loans.

Subletting a room makes a ton of sense for a short term situation. It also frees you from buying a ton of furniture, electronics, kitchen ware, etc. that you'll just have to sell or haul across the country in 6mo.

Yeah for 6 mo get the cheapest thing that doesn't suck balls.  You don't want to deal with lots of furniture, etc
