Lock set one screw problem
« on: December 06, 2018, 09:40:50 PM »
Hello,
I went and bought some new locks for my house (a set of two knobs and two deadbolts) and one of the deadbolts screw won't screw in. It seems fine with one screw but is this a problem? I looked in the hole and it seems exactly like the other hole so something must have happened at the manufacturing plant. They all came together in a set so it would be a pain to return the whole thing because of one screw. Thoughts?

The one screw that doesn't work, does it not work in the other spots of the deadbolt sets? Does a working screw go into the hole that you looked into and doesn't seem to be working? I would clean up both screw and hole with some carb clean or solvent you might have laying around. Hit the threads of the screw lightly with a wire brush.

The screws work in other holes, but none of the screws will screw into the problem hole. I have some solvent, thanks.
