Title: HP Printer - Missing or Failed Print Head Error
Post by: Baylor3217 on November 22, 2013, 03:27:38 PM
Curious if any of y'all have run into this.  I've done the steps suggested on HP's site to fix the problem but to no avail.

Talking to HP they said you're better off just buying a new printer.  The printer is less than a year old and is already out of warranty though.  Buying a new printer is not cost effective.

Have any of y'all experienced this problem and have any suggestions on how to fix this?

I take it you unplugged it for a while and plugged it back in with no results?  Then maybe you reseated the print head with no results?

Maybe you can find a replacement print head, but if it's from HP it may cost about as much as the printer.  Maybe you can find a same model of printer used from somewhere, and put the print head in yours.

All printers suck, but inkjet printers suck more.  Next time, especially if you can do without color, the black laser jets are now of comparable price to the color inkjets, and the replacement toner is just about always a better value than ink cartridges, especially if you only need black.

Is this a terribly expensive printer? I hate to say it, but it probably is the most cost effective to buy a new one. If we're talking about an $80 printer. Your looking at a minimum of probably $60 for someone else repairing it.

Though if your aiming for a do-it-yourself, good luck, I don't think that would be easy to diagnose.
