How to stream the NBA finals (without cable)
« on: June 01, 2017, 07:39:22 PM »
I went to the ABC site and entered my Charter email and password, but it didn't work because we only have Charter internet and not cable. I cut the cord five years ago and never looked back! Netflix, Hulu and Couchtuner offer more than enough for us at a small fraction of the price! I average an hour or two of TV a week at most. I would like to see the finals though!

Is there a way around this stupidity (People want to see your programming and will be subjected to your dumb commercials, but you won't let them unless they have cable!?!?1?!!)? Should I just buy a Leaf antenna? I have virtually no use for local broadcasting other than NBA.

Thanks.

I'm watching on an antenna.

You could go to a friend's house, or a bar...

Nah, I wanna relax in the comfort of my own home.

Hey, can you be a pal and post the score every two minutes???

I bet you can find it on the radio, and refresh ESPN website constantly.

I also cut the cord 6 months ago and I would HIGHLY recommend the Leaf 50. Unfortunately downstairs doesn't get FOX so not sure how I'm going to watch the Champions League this Saturday but I'll figure out a way. Plus it's only a one-time purchase of $50. It's been great for watching the Finals, the NFL, and college football.

Another avenue you can take a look into is Kodi on an Amazon Fire device...

I wrote a blog about cutting the cord, maybe it helps? http://khang-nguyen.com/?p=758

If you're in a metro area reasonably close to the transmitter towers and your home isn't impermeable to the over-the-air signals, just get the antenna. Digital broadcast quality is just as good or better than streaming. It's pretty much a buy-it-for-life thing -- or at least as long as broadcasting is alive.

Just get an antenna.  We got a cheap one for our TV and have not had any problems getting around 20 OTA channels.

Yep, buy an antenna. Short of that your choices would be to buy one of the streaming-only "cable" packages out there(make sure it offers ABC), search around for a peer to peer stream and subject yourself to poor quality and potential malware(plus the ethical problems), or find a non-contract cable service, sign up, watch the finals and then end your service.
