How to search for/review doctor/dentist?

This is the first time I haven't lived close to a military base and now I need to select a local doctor and dentist for me and my family.  I've never had to do this. Tricare sent me lists of doctors and dentists in my immediate area who are part of their network, but I don't have a clue where to start in evaluating them.

I go to the closest one, that has hours that work for me, that is accepting new patients, and is in-plan.
I then try them out for one or two appointments.  I will switch if we don't mesh in communication style, or doctor keeps me waiting for and hour or two.   As I don't need a lot of medical services, this works surprisingly well...

Of course, finding doctors is difficult here, so almost anyone is better than nothing.  On line reviews sometimes work, but I usually just mis-interpret them so aren't valuable to me.

I have also found only 1 dentist, ever, that I would not recommend, even with moving a lot.  I just had to verify that their costs were in line with my plan coverage.

Basically that. I get recommendations from friends and family around me. I google them to see if them have reviews but I don't rely on them...I look for consistent complaints like bad bedside manners, overcharging the insurance (fraud is fraud even if I don't pay for it), and selling you things/services you don't need.
