How to reduce electric bill?
« on: August 17, 2016, 03:37:36 PM »
I hope this is the right place to post this.
I am renting an  apartment and I am paying electricity directly to the provider.
I am getting bills of 120 USD/2 months in the winter and 100 USD/2 months in the summer.
Seeing some other users with way lower electric bills I am really wondering if I can do anything to decrease this.
I have electric heating, electric oven/range so I thought the winter bill is caused by the heating, but 50 USD/month during summer seems a lot.
Electric water heater, electric fridge... :).
It says I am using 16 Kwh/day. I think that is a lot.
It would mean keeping a 1 KW thing working for 16 hours each day - that is if I get this measurement unit correctly :).
I don't know how much power the range/oven have or how much the washer dryer consume, but it still looks like a lot.
For the washer/dryer I could find out with a power meter, but for the oven I don't have access to the electric outlet.

UPDATE:
I found out that 16KWH/day is "normal" with everything electric.
I am still not removing this to find out how do others get lower bills.
Perhaps they have gas water heaters, ovens.....

Please let me know if you also think this is a lot or not.
