Title: How to live cheap in NOLA?
Post by: gillamnstr on June 14, 2017, 05:40:22 PM
Hey all!

I currently live 3 hours away from NOLA, but plan on doing film work there (very sporadicly and I'm not sure if I'll be full-time, part-time or what). This is kind of an experiment, if it works out I'll get a real, big girl apartment.

Does anyone have any good tips on where to find housing for the super cheap that isn't sketchy? Or any other tips you think one should know about living there. Thanks a ton!

New Orleans isn't the cheapest.  I know there are a couple of film studios in the Elmwood area which also has many apartment complexes.  It's relatively easy to get to the garden district and to the interstate to Baton Rouge where other studios are located.  If you are going without a car, then a side of a shotgun double in the Garden District/uptown would be best.  However, New Orleans housing can vary almost from block to block.  Don't rent without seeing the place first and scoping the immediate neighborhood.
